Spotify Adds New Social Networking and Library Features

Today Spotify, the greatest music streaming service on the web, added a whole truckload of new features for both premium members free users. This is a biggie, too!

Spotify notes:

The new social network features include:

What does the "Play queue" in Spotify do?

As far as I can tell, the "Play queue" (upper left column) displays a list of the songs you have instructed Spotify to play such as upcoming songs in radio mode or upcoming tracks within the current playlist that is playing. Spotify has both active and passive queues so that queued songs (played songs from a search) are played before "non-queued" songs (those from the playlist/radio that were cued prior to the searched song(s) that were queued). Thus, actively queuing a song adds it to the end of the queue, but before the rest of the passively queued songs.

Creating a Spotify Playlist

A basic introduction on how to create a playlist in Spotify.

First, what's a playlist? A playlist is a saved collection of tracks you have individually chosen that you may listen to continuously and add to/delete from as you so desire. As it linked to your account, you have total control over it even if you share it with other people. People that are new to Spotify sometimes confuse a playlist with the play queue. The play queue is different from a playlist in that it is only available during the current session and is not saved once you logout from that given session.

On to it...
